  • Berlin / Germany : The petrol prices for premium petrol skip 1.60 euros and for diesel 1.56 euros per liter. Economists fear that the high fuel prices will endanger up to 140,000 jobs in Germany.
  • Minsk / Belarus : At a final concert for the Independence Day celebrations, around 50 people were injured in a bomb explosion shortly after midnight. President Aljaksandr Lukashenka gets an idea of ​​the rescue work.
  • Olympia / Greece : German researchers announce that they have discovered the ancient hippodrome in Olympia .
  • Tskhinvali / Georgia : The conflict between Georgia and the breakaway republic of South Ossetia is escalating.
