Toponymy

Loisy is mentioned for the first time in the files of the Cluny monastery in 950 as Castrum Loziaci , around 1015 there is an entry In Cabilonensi pago… aecclesiam… in honore Sancti-Martini dicatam… in villa quae Lausiacum vocatur (German: In the area of Chalon… a church… consecrated Saint Martin ... in the place called Lausiacum). Based on these mentions, it can be assumed that the settlement goes back to Gallo-Roman times when a Lausius settled there. Together with the possessive suffix -acum , his property became Lausiacum . It is also evident that there was a castle (castrum) as early as the middle of the 10th century and a church dedicated to Saint Martin at the beginning of the 11th century.

history

In the west, the D933 departmental road grazes the municipality, and Roman burial mounds have been found in this area. Furthermore, in Roman times there was a fortified post to monitor shipping traffic on the Seille , and in the 11th century there was a customs post for the control of salt from the Revermont .

There was a castle in Loisy since the 12th century, which Hugues de Brancion had built in 1150. It stood on a hill above the Seille with a remarkable foresight. The castle came into the possession of the de Loisy family , one of the most respected families in the area. Joubert de Loisy was a canon in Saint-Vincent in Chalon-sur-Saône and donated goods from his property to his church in 1268. The de Vienne , their feudal lords, had a customs post on the Seille built in Loisy . Nevertheless , the de Loisy paid homage to the Abbot of Tournus . The barony of Loisy included except Loisy still Molaise , Le Thielley and Savigny-sur-Seille , also Granod and Diconne . In 1533, Antoine de Loisy began to sell parts of his barony and gradually the castle was inhabited by other families. Philibert Quarré acquired part of the rule in 1556. In 1575 Jean Massol , citizen of Beaune and president of the Chambre des comptes , acquired the Loisy estate. In 1605 it came to Antoine Bretagne , Conseiller at the Parlement of Dijon, then in 1650 to Pierre de Bretagne , first President of the Parlement of Metz and to Marquis de Frouley de Tessé , Lieutenant General , in 1679 to Claude Boucher , Intendant for Burgundy, and to Claude de la Michaudière , Conseiller at the Parlement of Paris. In 1748 Loisy got married to the Marquis de Bourbonne , who had a new one built over the ruins of the old castle. The rule came in 1761 to his son, Marc-Antoine-Bernard-Claude Chartraire de Bourbonne , through the marriage of Reine-Claude Chartraire de Bourbonne to Paul-Albert, Count of Avaut , who was thus Marquis de Bourbonne, Baron of Loisy, Lord of Noiry, Huilly, La Frette, Saint-André and had a golden tower as a coat of arms in red , the basis of today's municipal coat of arms .

heraldry

The municipality has been using the coat of arms since March 28, 1994, which goes back to Paul-Albert, Count of Avaut . Blazon: In red a golden, five-fold tinned tower with an open door, a silver bar in the base of the shield. The tower possibly goes back to the newly built castle, the silver ribbon is supposed to represent the Seille . Due to the heraldic color rule , however, no blue band may appear on a red background, which would better represent the river. Other blazons also speak of a wave bar . The coat of arms appears as a sculpture and drawings.
