The Opel 4/8 PS or better known as the doctor's car is an automobile made by Adam Opel KG . The type played a major role in the company's rise to become Germany's largest automobile manufacturer.

The Opel 4/8 PS was specially built for medium-sized companies. The two-seater was small and manoeuvrable compared to other cars of the time and was used by many doctors for home calls, which quickly earned it the nickname “doctor's car”. The low price of 3950 marks made it a very successful model.

The Opel Doctor car was the first car of Opel, of the Opel logo on the radiator was wearing.

Opel advertised the 4/8 PS type with statements such as "simplest mechanism", "easiest handling" and above all: "without using a chauffeur ".

Motorization

The Opel 4/8 PS is powered by a water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a displacement of 1029  cm³ . The power is 8  hp . The vehicle thus reached a top speed of 60 km / h. That was completely sufficient for the time. The bad roads and the lack of traffic rules often did not allow a higher speed at all.
