Sauveterre ( Occitan : Sauvatèrra ) is a French commune with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Castres and the canton of Mazamet-2 Vallée du Thoré (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amans-Soult ). The inhabitants are called Sauveterròls .
location
Sauveterre is located about 28 kilometers southeast of Castres at the foot of the Montagne Noire (Eng. "Black Mountains") and is part of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park . The Thoré river limits the municipality to the north. Sauveterre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouairoux in the north, Lacabarède in the east and Albine in the south and west.
