Both places belonged to the county of Sayn-Hachenburg until 1806 , Berzhausen on the left of the Wied belonged to the parish of Schöneberg , and Strickhausen to the parish of Flammersfeld . The county of Sayn-Hachenburg fell to the princes of Nassau-Weilburg by inheritance in 1799 . Under the Prussian administration, both localities were assigned to the Flammersfeld mayor in the newly established Altenkirchen district , which from 1822 belonged to the Rhine Province . In 1817 Berzhausen had 51 and Strickhausen 41 inhabitants.
