Tarnow is a municipality in the west of the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Bützow-Land office based in the city of Bützow .
geography
The municipality of Tarnow south of the city of Bützow extends from the Warnowtal in an arc over a wooded ground moraine area to the fog lowlands . The Lurrbarg is 67 m above sea level. NN the highest point in the area around Tarnow. The municipality of Dreetz is located between Tarnow and the district of Zernin .
Tarnow is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bützow and Dreetz in the north, Gülzow-Prüzen in the east, Witzin in the south and Warnow in the north-west.

history
The place name, which comes from the Slavic word for thorn , appears in a document as early as 1223 . The church in Tarnow was built in the 14th century , one of the few two-aisled in Mecklenburg. Until its dissolution on December 31, 2004, Tarnow was the administrative seat of the Steintanz-Warnowtal Office . The volunteer fire brigade in Tarnow, as a base fire brigade , is also responsible for tasks outside of the municipality. There is a day care center, a shooting club and a carnival club in the community.

- Gothic , two-aisled , four-bay village church Tarnow from the 14th century.
- A tourist specialty is the large stone grave in the Tarnower Forest and the 3000 year old prehistoric cult and burial site near the Boitin district - the Boitiner stone dance . The village church of Boitin from the first half of the 14th century can also be seen there.
- Memorial stone for Ernst Thälmann and Rudolf Breitscheid , who were both murdered in Buchenwald concentration camp in 1944 , in the center of the village .

The community is located on the road connecting Bützow to Goldberg . The federal road 104 (Güstrow - Schwerin ) leads through Prüzen , three kilometers away . The next train station is in the nearby town of Bützow.
