Avon is a French municipality with 67 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Celles-sur-Belle (until 2015 La Mothe-Saint-Héray ). The inhabitants are called Avonnais .
geography
Avon is about 38 kilometers southwest of Poitiers . Avon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouillé in the north and northeast, Saint-Sauvant in the east and southeast, Chenay in the south, Exoudun in the southwest, Bougon in the west and Pamproux in the northwest.
The municipality is largely a restricted military area ( Terrain de Maneuvers ).
