The 7th US Critics' Choice Television Awards , presented annually by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), took place on December 11, 2016 in the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Municipal Airport in Santa Monica , California . Both the sixth and seventh awards took place in 2016 as they were dragged forward by a month. The award ceremony was hosted for the second time by comedian and actor TJ Miller and was broadcast live on US cable station A&E .

The nominations were announced on November 14, 2016. Programs that were broadcast in prime time in the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 were taken into account . The Most Promising New Series category is expected to be awarded separately in early September 2017.

They are followed with 5 nominations Game of Thrones on HBO , the British-American co-production The Night Manager and the second season of Netflix - Comedy Series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt . The HBO television film The Long Road to the Presidency of Lyndon B.
