Croix is a northern French municipality with 21,041 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . The city immediately merged with Roubaix . The inhabitants of Croix are called Croisiens in French .

location

Croix is ​​about eight kilometers to the northeast of Lille and two kilometers to the southwest of Roubaix '. Hem (south-east), Roubaix (north-east), Villeneuve-d'Ascq (south) and Wasquehal (south-west) border the municipality .

In the Middle Ages, Croix was the seat of the rulers of Croix and de la Fontaine. The city was the first time in a 1066 charter of the Count of Flanders Baldwin V mentioned. In 1617 Croix was made a county and gave its name to one of the oldest noble families in France.
