Dublin is a town in Pulaski County , a Dry County , in the US state of Virginia . It is located a few kilometers west of Radford and has less than 3,000 inhabitants.
Dublin was the site of the Battle of Cloyds Mountain during the American Civil War when Union forces from West Virginia invaded southwestern Virginia under the command of Major General George Crook with the aim of destroying the railway bridge over the New River .
From 1988 to 1992 NASCAR races were held here at the New River Valley Speedway .
In the north of the city is the regional airport New River Valley Airport ( IATA code PSK).
The world's largest truck production facility by Volvo is located in the south of Dublin .
