Richmond County is a county in the state of Virginia in the United States . In 2000 , the county had 8,809 residents and a population density of 18 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Warsaw .

Richmond County is located in northeast Virginia, about 30 km from Maryland and covers an area of ​​560 square kilometers, of which 65 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Westmoreland County , Northumberland County , Lancaster County, and Essex Counties .
