Warren County is a county in the state of Virginia in the United States . In 2000 , the county had 31,584 residents and a population density of 57 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Front Royal . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Warren County is located almost in the far north of Virginia, about 30 km from West Virginia and covers an area of 560 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Clarke County , Fauquier County , Rappahannock County , Page County , Shenandoah County, and Frederick County .
history
It was formed in 1836 from parts of Frederick County and Shenandoah County. It was named after Dr. Joseph Warren , a doctor and general who played a leading role among the American patriots in Boston . Counties in 14 US states were named after him. He became known as a general at the Battle of Bunker Hill .

After the census in 2000 31,584 people lived in Warren County. 546 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 12,087 households and 8,521 families. The population density was 57 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.71 percent white, 4.83 percent African American, 0.27 percent Native American, 0.43 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.46 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.29 percent were from two or more races. 1.56 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 12,087 households, 32.8 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 55.6 percent were married couples living together, 10.0 percent were single mothers, 29.5 percent were non-families, 24.0 percent were single households and 8.8 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.04.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.6 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 7.6 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.6 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.9 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.3 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 94.9 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 42,422 , and the median income for a family is $ 50,487. Males had a median income of $ 37,182 versus $ 25,506 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,841. 6.0 percent of families and 8.5 percent of the population were below the poverty line. This included 8.7 percent of children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 10.4 percent of residents aged 65 or over.
