Bland County is a county in the state of Virginia in the United States . In 2000 the county had 6,871 residents and a population density of 7 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Bland . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Bland County is located in central southwest Virginia, borders West Virginia to the north and has an area of ​​929 square kilometers with no significant water surface. history

Formed in 1861 from parts of Giles County, Tazewell County, and Wythe County, it was named after Richard Blend , a statesman from Virginia who was elected multiple times to the House of Burgesses and was a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1774 and 1775 .
