Grayson County is a county in the state of Virginia in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 17,917 people and a population density of 16 people per square kilometer. Grayson County is located in southwest Virginia, borders North Carolina and Tennessee to the south and has an area of ​​1,155 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers are water. According to the 2000 census , Grayson County had 17,917 people in 7,259 households and 5,088 families. The population density was 16 people per square kilometer.
