Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the replica of the Old North Church in Boston

The Forest Lawn Memorial Park is a park-like cemetery in Hollywood , Los Angeles , and final resting place of many famous personalities from the show business . It is located on Forest Lawn Drive in the San Fernando Valley .

history

In addition to a few other Forest Lawn Memorial Cemeteries, there are six Forest Lawn Memorial Parks run by the American company "Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries", which also includes Hollywood Hills. The first Forest Lawn Cemetery was founded in Glendale in 1917 by Hubert Eaton , who was a firm believer in a happy life after death. Since he thought the conventional cemeteries were too gloomy and sad, he created a cemetery according to his ideas, which was more like a spacious park with fountains, tall trees, statues and wide lawns. Before the area was used as a cemetery, it had been used as a location for a number of films, including The Birth of a Nation by David Wark Griffith .
