  • Sadr City / Iraq : A suicide bomber killed at least 35 people and wounded 60 in a terrorist attack on a market in Sadr City. The terrorist organization Islamic State is committed to the attack.

  • Dushanbe / Tajikistan : In response to Afghan security forces who fled the Taliban offensive to Tajikistan , President Emomalij Rahmon holds the largest military exercise in the country's history. The aim is to secure the southern border with Afghanistan. 130,000 reservists are mobilized for the military exercise.
  • Kandahar / Afghanistan : Following the violent takeover of the Spin Boldak district in southern Afghanistan by the Taliban , over 100 civilians are shot dead for no apparent reason.

  • Accra / Ghana : In Ghana, a bill is being introduced, according to which same-sex intercourse can be punished with a penalty of up to ten years.
  • Lima / Peru : Pedro Castillo is sworn in as president of the country.

  • Lima / Peru : President Pedro Castillo appoints Guido Bellido of the Marxist Free Peru party as prime minister. The new head of government will give part of his inaugural speech in Quechua . The cabinet proposal comes without a finance minister after the nominee for financial affairs withdrew. The prime minister and cabinet have yet to be ratified by the center-right dominated Congress.
