history
District Office
The Friedberg District Office was established in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1862 . This was followed by the regional court of the same area of the older order Friedberg .
On July 1, 1910, the Friedberg district office ceded the municipality of Meringerau and on January 1, 1913, the municipalities of Lechhausen and Hochzoll (until 1905 Friedbergerau ) to the city of Augsburg.
On January 1, 1914, the Landsberg am Lech district office handed over the Unterbergen community to the Friedberg district office. Schmiechen followed on January 1, 1915 .
district
On January 1, 1939 the uniform imperial designation Landkreis was introduced. So the district office became the Friedberg district.
On July 1, 1972, the Friedberg district was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria :
- The communities Höfa , Pfaffenhofen an der Glonn , Sittenbach , Unterumbach and Weitenried came to the district of Dachau.
- All other communities were merged with a large part of the also dissolved district of Aichach and individual communities in the districts of Fürstenfeldbruck , Neuburg an der Donau and Schrobenhausen to form the new district of Augsburg-Ost . In 1973 the district council established Aichach as the district town with a narrow majority , and the old Bavarian district was named Aichach-Friedberg on May 1, 1973 .
