The Opel 15/60 PS was an automobile of the upper class , which the Adam Opel KG in 1927 as a successor to the end of 1928 to model 14/48 PS built.

In 1927 Opel presented two models as successors to the 14/48 hp model that had been built for many years, the smaller 12/50 hp and the larger 15/60 hp.

The engine of the 15/60 PS was a six-cylinder in - line engine with 3882 cm³ displacement, the 60 PS (44 kW) at 2800 / min. performed. The engine had a removable cylinder head and side valves . The engine was powered by a single Solex or Zenith carburetor.

The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a multi-plate clutch, a manual three-speed gearbox, a cardan shaft and a differential . The cars reached a top speed of 100 km / h.

The car had a frame made of steel U-profiles with two longitudinal members and five cross members. The front rigid axle hung on semi-elliptical leaf springs, the rear on quarter elliptical. The big innovation in the 15/60 PS and its sister model 12/50 PS was the use of shock absorbers . All four wheels were decelerated with drum brakes.

The 15/60 PS was available with three different factory bodies: a seven-seater touring car , a four-door Pullman limousine and a station wagon , the latter two in standard and luxury versions.

At the end of 1928 the 4.2 liter model replaced the 15/60 hp.
