Petropavlivka ( Ukrainian Петропавлівка ; Russian Петропавловка Petropavlovka ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine with about 5000 inhabitants.

The place in the Luhansk Oblast is about 22 kilometers northwest of the Rajons capital Stanyzja Luhanska and 28 kilometers northwest of the Oblast capital Luhansk at the confluence of the Kowsuh ( Ковсу ) with the Jewsuh ( Євсуг ).
Petropavliwka forms administratively together with the village Wojtowe ( Войтове ) the settlement council of the same name.
history
The place was founded in 1684 as Karajashnik (Караяшник), renamed in 1771 after the re-establishment in Petropawlowka ( Петропавловка ) and in 1923 was named Petrivka (Ukrainian Петрівка ; Russian Петровка Petrowka ). In 1957, the village that had existed until then was finally made an urban-type settlement. From 1960 to 1963 the place was Rajonszentrum of Verkhnyoteple Rajons , which was dissolved in 1963. On May 19, 2016, the place was renamed to its old name Petropavliwka in the course of decommunization in Ukraine .
