The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 72nd time in 1956/57 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He began on September 8, 1956, ended with the repetition finals on 24 April 1957 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . Heart of Midlothian started as defending champion in the competition that had won against Celtic Glasgow in the final last year . In this year's final of the Scottish Cup, FC Falkirk and FC Kilmarnock faced each other. For Falkirk it was the second Scottish Cup final after 1913 . The Killies reached the cup final for the sixth time since 1898 . After a 1-1 draw in the first final game, Falkirk won the repeat final 2-1 after extra time, which was the second time the title was won after 1913. In the 1956/57 season , the Glasgow Rangers were Scottish champions for the 30th time . Falkirk was fourteenth, the Killies third in the table. Celtic Glasgow won the League Cup .
