Soudan is a French municipality with 430 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Celles-sur-Belle (until 2015 La Mothe-Saint-Héray ). The inhabitants are called Soudanais .

Soudan is located about 28 kilometers east-northeast of Niort . Soudan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fomperron in the north, Saint-Germier in the northeast, Pamproux in the east, Salles in the south, Sainte-Eanne in the southwest and Nanteuil in the west and southwest.

The A10 autoroute runs through the municipality .
