Washington County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Washington .

The county is located in northeast Kansas, borders Nebraska to the north and has an area of ​​2,328 square kilometers, of which one square kilometer is water. In Kansas, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Marshall County , Riley County , Clay County , Cloud County, and Republic County .

history

Washington County was formed in 1873. It was named after George Washington , the first US president .
