Eier mit Speck is a music festival that has been taking place every year since 2006 on the last full weekend in July at Hohen Busch in Viersen . The main genres that the open-air festival covers are rock , pop and metal as well as ska and electro .

The name of the festival arose from the organizers' consideration of what bothered them most about other festivals. Ultimately you came across the rather poor breakfast menu there. The idea was quickly born to offer free breakfast and at the same time choose the name of the festival accordingly. The festival enables the winning band of the annual “Young Talents” competition, which is organized by the YoungLife organization together with the city of Viersen, to perform.

criticism

Already in the first year of the event, there was considerable criticism from the residents, who particularly criticized the noise level. This behavior on the part of the residents resulted in relatively violent reactions. In response to this criticism, the festival in the following year (2007) was not shortened as proposed, but the noise level was lowered.
