Grant County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Williamstown , named after William Arnold , who donated the land to the city. The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in northern Kentucky, about 10 km to the northwest from Indiana , about 25 km to the northeast from Ohio , and covers an area of 675 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Boone County , Kenton County , Pendleton County , Harrison County , Scott County , Owen County, and Gallatin Counties .
history
Grant County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Pendleton County. It was named after Colonel John Grant.
Two of the county's structures are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of October 1, 2017).

According to the 2000 census , Grant County had 22,384 people in 8,175 households and 6,221 families. The population density was 33 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.31 percent white, 0.25 percent African American, 0.23 percent Native American, 0.29 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.32 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.54 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.04 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 8,175 households, 39.6 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 60.1 percent were married couples living together, 11.1 percent were single mothers, 23.9 percent were non-families, 19.8 percent were single households and 8.2 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.10 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 28.7 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 9.4 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 31.5 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 20.9 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 9.5 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were statistically 94.8 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 38,438 , and the median income for a family is $ 42,605. Males had a median income of $ 31,987 versus $ 23,669 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,776. 9.0 percent of families and 11.1 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 15.1 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 13.4 percent were people over 65 years of age.
