Note: The planned monument protection areas of Obercunnersdorf and Mittelcunewalde as surrounding communities are not yet included in the Saxon monument protection list.
Remarks
- This list is not suitable for deriving binding statements on the monument status of an object. As far as a legally binding determination of the listed property of an object is desired, the owner can apply to the responsible lower monument protection authority for a notice.
- The official list of cultural monuments is never closed. It is permanently changed through clarifications, new additions or deletions. A transfer of such changes to this list is not guaranteed at the moment.
- The monument quality of an object does not depend on its entry in this or the official list. Objects that are not listed can also be monuments.
- Basically, the property of a monument extends to the substance and appearance as a whole, including the interior. Deviating applies if only parts are expressly protected (e.g. the facade).
Detailed memorial texts
- ↑ Monument text: Marienberg was built as planned from 1521, the background to the development were extensive silver finds. Under Duke Heinrich the Pious and according to the plans of Ulrich Rülein von Calw, the Italian urban planning theory of the “Città Ideale” was implemented on German soil for the first time. Marienberg can thus be regarded as the first ideal Renaissance city north of the Alps (e.g. before Zamość in Poland, the “Padua of the North”), and also formed the basis for the design of other mining locations in the Ore Mountains. The large, rectangular market square in the center of the city, on the highest point, is decisive for the urban structure, from which three streets branch off at right angles on all sides. Further cross streets divide the city area into rectangular building areas. The partially preserved city wall encompassed approximately a square with a side length of 550 to 600 m (only in the south it did not run at right angles to the road network), the corners of which were occupied by round towers. Five city gates - two in the west - gave access to the local area, which can still be seen today in terms of structure and development. The Zschopauer Tor in the north-west and the Red Tower in the east of the city fortifications have been preserved, about a third of the wall itself, the course of the moat is made clear in the south-west and especially in the north-east by green spaces that were created from the 19th century. Some buildings with a core from the 16th century are still essential, some have been preserved in parts (portals, window frames, wooden ceilings, cellars). The town hall, the mining office, the ducal house, the workers' building "Lindenhäuschen" and of course the St. Mary's Church, one of the famous Upper Saxon hall churches of the late Gothic period, which is not centrally located but to the south-east of the town, stand out here. Today, the townscape is characterized by two to three-storey eaves-level buildings that were built in the 18th and 19th centuries, and often have dormer roofs or hipped roofs. These houses are predominantly plastered buildings, which are usually characterized by economical decorative elements in the form of cornices, grooves, stucco and natural stone walls. There are also brick-faced facades, especially from the late 19th century, but there are only a few preserved half-timbered structures. The high school, the parade hall, two military buildings and, extra muros, the power station built in 1910 determine the image of the city center in terms of newer architectural monuments. For historical, urban, artistic and scientific reasons, Marienberg is of particular public interest in maintaining it. A statute according to monument law (§ 21 SächsDSchG) has existed since 2004 (LfD / 2014).
- ↑ This includes the surroundings of the monument protection area with its historical buildings (Grünthaler Straße, Albertstraße, Bahnhofstraße and Zöblitzer Straße) as well as the views of the ensemble of the former Rittergutsgarten (city park) outside or inside the historical complex. The spatial limitation results from the historical context. According to the current property boundaries, the areas with the historical reference to the manor, the city church and the northern development of the market square are included in the monument protection area.
- ↑ Monument text: The town of Bärenstein, first mentioned around 1500, was founded in connection with the about 200 years older castle of those von Bernstein (named). The market, made necessary by the separation of Bärenstein from Altenberg and Geising, is integrated into the landscape in a hollow that forms part of the path system between the castle (later a castle) and the (also older) Waldhufendorf on a rock spur above the valley of the Müglitz Seitental is involved. The monument protection area with organically grown building fabric includes the properties of the buildings delimiting the market square and parts of the Schloßstraße, Kalkberg, Bahnhofstraße and Kirchgasse arteries. The church with the cemetery visually forms the link between the village and the urban settlement. Through the Kirchgasse, its tower acts as a vertical accent in the market. The not quite rectangular market square, without straight lines, of approx. 125 x 75 m is surrounded by simple two-story houses, some of which are arable houses, in closed development. The relationship between the low building height and the square area is typical of a rural marketplace. The dominant features are the old brewery with its mighty hipped roof and its elaborate half-timbered construction from the beginning of the 17th century, as well as the high-altitude, historicist new town hall at the intersection of Schlossstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse. The external appearance of the other houses dates from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, as suggested by several keystones in the arched house entrances. In its interior there are often older construction stages (nos. 3–6). Even buildings from the further 19th century, despite somewhat larger cubatures, fit in well with the structure, which has hardly changed in terms of design since it was founded (due to the modest economic situation). Some of the smooth plastered facades still hide half-timbered upper floors. The sandstone walls of the openings and the slate-covered roofs, which occur both as saddle, hip and mansard roofs, are characteristic (LfD / 2011).
- ↑ Monument text: The Rundling Boderitz is one of the few village structures in the Saxon area whose buildings are assigned to a central green with their gables. There is no other type of village that is characterized by such a concentrated unity. Originally there was only one access road. Like most comparable rounds, Boderitz was created in the High Middle Ages. The area of their distribution extends from Schleswig-Holstein to the edge of the Erzgebirge, hence it describes the contemporary "contact zone" between Germans and Slavs. Therefore, rounds are also assigned to Slavic influence, especially since their names indicate a corresponding origin. Boderitz is also characterized by the gable-independent nature of its buildings, most of which were built to replace previous buildings and date to the 18th and 19th centuries. The unity of the structure is supported by courtyard walls with arches. An additional attraction is the row of crooked hip roofs (pond place 3–6). The special value of Boderitz as a monument arises from architectural and above all urban planning reasons. The public interest in preservation is also justified by its rarity. Only a little over one percent of the villages in Saxony can be described as round village villages. Usually the special value of these places is anchored in the public consciousness. In Bonnewitz and Sobrigau and also in Boderitz, courtyards have been redeveloped in a private initiative as important structural components in accordance with listed buildings. Some of these villages are statutory areas under building law. Boderitz itself has been the subject of public conservation interest since 1961, thanks to, among other things, Hans Nadler, the nestor of the Saxon preservation of monuments. In 1971 there was also a dissertation specifically on Boderitz. It can be said that the monument value of Rundlingen was recognized early by a wide circle of experts. Unfortunately, with the demolition of a three-sided courtyard (Teichplatz 7 and 8), almost a quarter of the special structure and substance of Boderitz disappeared (LfD / 2013).
- ↑ A picture from 1656 shows the terrain spur, which is completely built up as it is today. Due to this authenticity, the area, one of two germ cells of the place, has a high visual and urban historical documentation value. The town center with the central rectangular market square, to which a total of 8 streets or paths lead vertically from all sides, and with the complexes of the church and the castle that adjoin it to the south, also dating back to the Middle Ages (for a detailed description see there), was since the 14th It was surrounded by a wall in the 17th century, remains of which have been preserved to the south. Probably the town charter of the place situated on a trade route already existed earlier. Street names such as Schuhgasse testify to the former existence of craft guilds, and the Große Wassergasse, for example, which helps shape the grid-like settlement area to the east up to the former city wall, stands for the open channels that once led mountain water from the tunnels on the Sonnenberg down to the valley. There were businesses that needed a lot of water, such as blacksmiths, breweries and cooperage. The terrain spur drops off steeply to the west. The gardens of the castle, the adjoining modern parks, but also historical orchards form a particularly picturesque situation here. Otherwise, there is a closed development, which is particularly impressive on the market. If you can still find eaves-standing, three-storey buildings with z. Sometimes with steep pitched roofs and Renaissance portals, the houses on the east side lost their ornamental gables after the city fires in 1826 and 1841 and were initially only rebuilt on a single storey. Today they show, as well as the development of the connecting streets, the perforated facades of the 19th century typical for small Saxon towns. The town hall is a valuable building with its mighty Renaissance gable facade that borders the square to the south. The two suburban situations that can still be seen on Obertorplatz and Niedertorplatz are also remarkable. Former town barns, which are evidence of fortified agricultural towns, have z. Some preserved on Planberg and Heideweg (LfD / 2012).
- ↑ Monument text: Since the early Middle Ages (as a castle location possibly even since the Bronze Age) Dohna has been the center of a county that was of great importance for the history of the Elbe valley landscape - as numerous archaeological finds prove. The castle hill at the entrance of the Müglitz valley, surrounded by the river in a loop, was due to its location suitable to control an old road to Bohemia and became one of the oldest settlement centers in Upper Saxony. Later, Dohna was also a station on Dresden-Teplitzer Poststrasse, which is still heralded by a Saxon postal mileage column on the market square. The trapezoidal market square of Dohnas with its almost closed arable buildings and the church on the west side, which has been occupied since the 13th century, but mostly from the 15th century, was built later than the settlement core of the castle hill and is separated from it topographically by a depression. With the expansion of the core development from the 16th century, not only structural structures emerged along the two eastern access roads, but also suburban settlements in the valley. Due to their exposed location, the two cores of Dohna not only form an impressive shape, also optically corresponding to the historical significance, but also correspond to one another themselves. All of this can be experienced not only from the Elbe side, but almost even more impressively from the south-west side opposite. This is already an integral part of the Müglitztal. Dohna with its topography and its buildings is, beyond the historical and optical, also part of a cultural landscape, which through its castles (including Weesenstein, Bärenstein, Lauenstein) and its traffic routes (historical Müglitztalbahn) is one of the oldest tourist areas Saxony has become. Therefor stand as a testimony z. B. the romantic reconstruction of the castle tower in the early 19th century and the approximately simultaneous design of the iconic church tower in its present form - a quote from the Dresden Hausmannsturm. Numerous pictorial representations of Dohna since the 18th century, especially from the Müglitz valley on the southwest side of the town, also speak for the awareness that we are dealing with something special. The public interest in preservation not only in the substance, structure and image of Dohna, but also in its environment, which is part of a special cultural landscape, is based on the authenticity and the exemplary and supra-regional importance of the object (LfD / 2013).
- ↑ At a height of more than 700 m there is a forest hoof structure, the hooves of which branch off almost at right angles from the water and the main path and have been preserved with remarkable regularity. For the most part built in two rows, part of the upper village is so “pressured” by the raised bog that in between there is only one row. The widely spaced ground-floor houses, which were mostly built in the 18th century, are remarkable and characterize the townscape in a regionally hardly comparable way. They can also have an effect because the transfiguration of modern times is limited here and does not transfigure the structure. The house type is characterized by climate-related lowness and up to 80 cm thick outer walls. The stone masonry is plastered and whitewashed. Up to three quarters of the elongated floor plan are economic areas (expanded in the 19th century), otherwise the basic scheme follows that of the so-called Central German residential stable house and its division into living part, hall and stable / economic part. Outside, the wooden vestibules and, in some cases, still wood-shingled, herringbone gable sides characterize the picture (LfD / 2011).
- ↑ The Teplitzer Straße coming from Zinnwald splits into Hauptstraße and Lange Straße when you enter the village, the former winding and with the town hall, school, church, the other straighter and with loosened buildings. A free space was created below the church in the area of the main street, also because originally the traffic was routed through Mühlgasse. Hauptstrasse and Lange Strasse reunite at the railway overpass. You come across the late medieval part of the settlement, which belongs to the oldest stock (Altgeising), with a few houses from the 17th century. Overall, Geising's structure still embodies the shape of the 16th / 17th century. Century. The topographical lack of straight lines serves the picturesque image of the place. The jumping forwards and backwards of the houses, mostly built in (later slated) wooden construction and largely still in the original open construction, results in the interesting and memorable local structure. A specific feature of the location are the stepping stones in front of the house entrances (although their number has already been reduced). As early as 1960, the city council passed a “resolution to protect the townscape” in order to “protect the uniqueness and unity of the city's character” (LfD / 2012).
- ^ Monument text: Monument protection area Kernstadt with town hall tower and town church and district court as well as church square and market; Boundaries to the south and east: floodplains of the Weißer Elster and Elstermühlgraben (Kleine Elster), north and west: Stadtgraben, the Mühlgraben flows through the city from south to north and separates the upper town from the lower town, the unity of the townscape is striking.
