List of members of the Lower Saxony state parliament (4th electoral period)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of members of the 4th Lower Saxony State Parliament contains all members of the Lower Saxony State Parliament in the 4th electoral period (1959–1963) . For the provincial governments see this legislature, Cabinet head V and Cabinet Diederichs I . The state parliament met on May 12, 1959.

composition

After the state election on April 19, 1959 , the state parliament was composed as follows:

fraction Seats
SPD 65
CDU 51
DP 20th
GB / BHE 13
FDP 8th
total 157

Although the DP and the GB / BHE merged to form the GDP in April 1961 , both factions remained independent, GB / BHE in the government and DP in the opposition. On October 30, 1961, a GDP state party conference decided to continue to support the government, but as a result 18 of 20 members of the former DP converted to the CDU, so that from March 29, 1962 only two members (Hinrich Brunckhorst and Fritz Winkelmann) remained as non-attached.
