List of members of the Lower Saxony state parliament (2nd electoral period)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of members of the 2nd Lower Saxony State Parliament includes all members of the Lower Saxony State Parliament in the 2nd electoral term (1951–1955) . For the state government of this legislative period, see cabinet head IV .

composition

After the state elections on May 6, 1951 , the state parliament was composed as follows:

fraction Seats at the beginning of the parliamentary term Seats at the end of the term
SPD 64 59
DP / CDU 35 43
BHE 21st 20th
SRP
from July 15, 1952 parliamentary group of MPs Dr. Schrieber and comrades
16 -
FDP 12 15th
CENTER 4th 2
DRP 3 2
KPD 2 3
DSP 1 -
Others - 10
total 158

The CDU and DP ran together for the state elections under the name of Low German Union and also formed a common parliamentary group in the second electoral period. After the SRP was banned by the Federal Constitutional Court on October 23, 1952, all 16 mandates of this party were canceled. According to a recalculation of the distribution of seats, these 16 seats were filled with substitutes from the other parties. Center, DRP, KPD and DSP had no parliamentary group status, as only associations with at least ten members were a parliamentary group. On October 8, 1953, 13 members of parliament joined together to form a central parliamentary group , which, however, was disbanded on January 11 when it fell below the ten limit.
