The organ was built from March 12th to 13th, 1896 at Hochw. Mr. P. Josef Berghold , before it was already transported to the premises of the Catholic Journeyman's Association on Gumpendorfer Strasse on May 2nd of the same year. When this was dissolved by the National Socialist rulers in 1938, the builder company transferred the instrument to the Starchanter parish church. Between September 9th and October 2nd, 1954 - also by the building company - a major intervention in the original substance of the organ took place by changing the disposition to the current one.

The original organ, commissioned by Josef Panhuber in 1930 and completed in 1933, was equipped with a pneumatic action, but was converted to an electro-pneumatic system by Philipp Eppel in 1962. When Herbert Gollini built a new organ in 1980/81, 19 stops of the Panhuber organ could be reused and 10 stops were made. In the course of the renovation carried out by Achim Reichmann in 2002, the trumpet 8 ', whose bell had been taken over by Gollini from Panhuber, was exchanged for a new one.

From there it was bought by the Bodem company, which offered it as a loan instrument for concerts and other uses. As such, the organ of the parish church was made available to Maria Namen until the parish decided to acquire it permanently in 2009.

In the course of a bomb attack on January 15, 1945, the church - with the exception of its two towers - was completely destroyed; in this context the organ was also destroyed. After the church was rebuilt from 1955 to 1957 according to plans by the Viennese architect Karl Raimund Lorenz, the Kauffmann company built the current organ in 1964.
