The Opel 10/24 PS was an automobile of the upper class , which the Adam Opel KG only in 1911 as a successor to the model 10/20 PS built. If the engine of the predecessor consisted of two blocks with two cylinders each, that of the 10/24 HP was combined into one block, but resembled the predecessor engine in terms of displacement. So it was a four - cylinder block engine with a displacement of 2614 cm³ (bore × stroke = 80 mm × 130 mm), producing 24 hp (17.6 kW) at 1550 rpm. performed. The side-controlled engine was water-cooled. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a leather cone clutch, a manual four-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The frame was composed of sheet steel U-profiles. The two rigid axles were suspended from three-quarter elliptical leaf springs. The service brake was designed as an internal shoe brake that acted on the transmission output shaft. The handbrake worked on the drums on the rear wheels.
The 10/24 PS was available as a four-seater double phaeton , six-seater touring car , four-door sedan or landaulet . With the cheapest structure (double phaeton) it cost 8,500 RM.
In 1912 the geometry of the engine was changed: the bore grew to 84 mm, the stroke was reduced to 118 mm. The result was a displacement of 2616 cm³ and an output of 25 hp (18.4 kW) at 1550 rpm. Accordingly, the new model was offered as 10/25 hp. The car also received a new frame, the wheelbase of which had grown from 3055 mm to 3230–3380 mm. All other technical details remained the same.
In 1913 this engine received a further boost in power. It now developed 30 hp (22 kW) at 1600 rpm. The new model was now called 10/28 hp and ran up to 70 km / h.
