coat of arms
Blazon : “Divided by silver and gold, lowered by a sloping green wavy bar. Above a red eight-spoke wheel in a wreath of eight green birch leaves, below a red urn. "
The municipality's coat of arms is divided diagonally by the green ribbon of the ox path that has been running through the municipality for centuries. The wreath of birch leaves represents the eight hooves that made Peissen. The wheel inside the wreath refers to agriculture and forestry, which are still the main livelihoods of the municipality. The clay urn is a reminder of the early finds on the parish grounds, which testify that the area was already populated at the time of the Great Migration.
Attractions
Before the Schierenwald to the west of the village is the Peissener Loch , a green depression under which there is a salt dome with a cap made of lime and gypsum . The cavities washed out by the groundwater in the depths collapsed over time.
