2008/09 2010/11

The Ski Jumping World Cup 2009/10 (official sponsor name : BAUHAUS FIS World Cup Ski Jumping 2009/10 ) was a series of ski jumping competitions organized by the FIS World Ski Association between November 27, 2009 and March 14, 2010 . The original plan was to hold 25 individual and 3 team competitions at 17 different locations in Europe and Asia. The dates were finally set at the FIS Calendar Conference 2009 from May 20 to 24, 2009 in Dubrovnik . The two individual competitions planned in Trondheim had to be relocated to Lillehammer , which reduced the number of organizing venues to 16. The overall World Cup was won for the first time by Swiss Simon Ammann , ahead of Austrian defending champion Gregor Schlierenzauer and his compatriot Thomas Morgenstern . The Slovene Robert Kranjec won the Ski Flying World Cup ahead of defending champions Schlierenzauer and Ammann. Austria secured its sixth victory in a row in the Nations Cup, ahead of Norway and Germany.

Changes to the regulations

With the 2009/2010 season one of the most extensive changes to the regulations comes into force. The changed regulations are only used for selected competitions. With these, the inrun length, which was previously the same for all jumpers, can now be changed flexibly from jumper to jumper by the competition jury. This should give more jumpers the opportunity to achieve a great distance. In order to keep the sporting performance comparable despite different inrun lengths, a mathematical value, the so-called f-value, is calculated for each hill. This indicates individually for each hill how this one meter difference in inrun length affects the jumped distance. From the f-value and the distance between the starting hatches, the so-called gate factor results for each hill . According to this, all jumpers who use a shortened or extended run-up get points credited or deducted. Since the inrun length must also be changed due to changing wind conditions, the wind is also included in the new rule. To this end, the previously existing wind corridor will be abolished; instead, the wind influence on it will be calculated promptly for each jump. The first jumper of a round provides a base value, the following jumpers receive point deductions or credits in better or worse wind conditions. These rules, which were tested during the Summer Grand Prix 2009 , are also in a test phase in the 2009/10 World Cup. After initially planning to apply this rule change to all World Cups, the FIS Council decided in November 2009 to apply this rule variant only to the team tour and the Nordic tournament . A variant of the new regulation tested at the Grand Prix, according to which not only the jury, but also the trainers can change the run-up length, was rejected after an initiative by the active athletes.

In addition, a new regulation for the distribution of prize money comes into force. In future, the athletes will receive 100 Swiss francs for each World Cup point . So the winner of a jump gets 10,000 francs, the thirtieth receives 100.

The German DIY chain BAUHAUS becomes the new title sponsor of the World Cup after e-on Ruhrgas left the company two years ago.
