The 2012/13 Raiffeisen Super League was the 116th season of the top Swiss league in men's football and comprised ten teams. After eight years, the league received a new sponsor, Raiffeisen Switzerland . FC Basel became Swiss champions for the fourth time in a row and for the sixteenth time overall , three points ahead of Grasshopper Club Zurich . After only two seasons in the Super League, Servette FC had to accept relegation as the bottom of the table.

In the Super League, the ten clubs competed four times against each opponent, twice in their home stadiums and twice away. In total, each team played 36 games.
The barrage was eliminated, the last placed rose to the Challenge League .
As Switzerland moved up to 14th place in the UEFA five-year ranking, the runners-up also received the right to qualify for the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League .
Both clubs started in the third round of qualifying. The Swiss champion took part in the champions route, the runner-up got the chance to qualify for the premier class via the placement route.
