Winterbach is a municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rüdesheim . Winterbach is a state-approved resort .

geography

Winterbach is located in the southern Hunsrück , on the edge of the Soonwald on the 657 meter high Ellerspring . 77.1 percent of the district area is forested. The Ellerbach flows through the place.

Winterbach also includes the Forsthaus Winterbach, Kreershäuschen and Kuhpferch residential areas .

history

The place was first mentioned on June 8, 1295.

Winterbach belonged to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim and was assigned to the Margraviate of Baden when the Sponheim possessions were divided in 1776 . After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops (1794), the place belonged to the canton of Sobernheim in the Rhine-Moselle department from 1798 to 1814 . A participant in the Congress of Vienna agreements reached, the region came and with it Winterbach 1815 Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 the county Kreuznach in Koblenz assigned, that of 1822 to the Rhine province belonged.
