The Copa del Generalísimo 1970/71 was the 67th edition of the Spanish soccer cup competition , which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey .
The competition started on October 14, 1970 and ended with the final on July 4, 1971 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid . Instead of playing playoffs, the away goals rule was applied for the first time in this cup season with the same number of goals scored after the return leg or a penalty shoot-out was played. The defending champion of the cup competition was Real Madrid . CF Barcelona won the title with a 4-3 win after extra time against FC Valencia in the final . This qualified the Catalans for the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1971/72 .

The first legs were played between October 14, 15, 20 and 21, the second legs on October 27, 28 and 29, and on November 4, 1970.
