The Opel 10/18 PS was an automobile of the upper class , which the Adam Opel KG from 1907 to early 1910 as a successor to the models 12/14 PS and 14 PS built.

History and technology

The size of the new 10/18 PS was between its predecessor models.

The engine was a four - cylinder block engine composed of two blocks with a displacement of 2545 cm³ (bore × stroke = 90 mm × 100 mm), the 18 HP (13.3 kW) at 1600 / min. performed. The side-controlled motor was water-cooled, the coolant circulation was ensured by a centrifugal pump. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a metal cone clutch, a manual three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft .

The frame was composed of sheet steel U-profiles. The two rigid axles were suspended from semi-elliptical leaf springs. The service brake was designed as an internal shoe brake that acted on the transmission output shaft. The handbrake worked on the drums on the rear wheels.

The 10/18 PS was available as a four-seater double phaeton , four-seater touring car , four-door sedan , landaulet or two-door coupé . With the cheapest structure (double phaeton) it cost 8,500 RM.

The 10/18 PS was built until the beginning of 1910 and then replaced by the slightly larger 10/20 PS model.
