The Opel 10/20 PS was a car in the luxury class , which the Adam Opel KG only in 1910 as a successor to the model 10/18 PS built.

History and technology

The new 10/20 PS essentially corresponded to its direct predecessor.

The engine was a four - cylinder block engine composed of two blocks , but with a displacement of 2614 cm³ (bore × stroke = 80 mm × 130 mm), which made 20 hp (14.7 kW) at 1600 rpm. The side-controlled engine was water-cooled and the coolant was circulated by a centrifugal pump. For power transmission to the rear axle, the car had a leather cone clutch (predecessor: metal cone clutch), a manual three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The top speed of the car was 70 km / h.

The frame was composed of sheet steel U-profiles. The two rigid axles were suspended from semi-elliptical leaf springs. The service brake was an internal shoe brake that acted on the transmission output shaft. The handbrake worked on the drums on the rear wheels.

The 10/20 PS was available as a four-seater double phaeton , four-seater touring car, four-door sedan and landaulet . The coupé body of the predecessor was no longer available. With the cheapest construction (double phaeton) it cost 7,500 RM, 1000 RM less than the 10/18 hp.

The 10/20 PS was built until the end of 1910. In 1911 the larger successor 10/24 hp came .
