Stars in the Euro NCAP - Crash Test (2015) |
Opel also decided to cooperate with Renault and Nissan for the Vivaro B, which will be available from August 2014 to March 2019. As with its predecessor, the second generation is identical to the Renault Trafic III, the Nissan NV300 and, from 2016, the Fiat Talento.
The Vivaro B was mostly manufactured in Luton, only the high-roof version H2 was manufactured in Sandouville, France, together with the Renault Trafic. The fact that Opel was taken over by the PSA Group during the construction phase of the Vivaro (2017) and now PSA, which actually sells its own range of light commercial vehicles, had to build the Vivaro in cooperation with Renault / Nissan until the end of the construction period appeared strange.
Opel announced in October 2018 that the production of the Vivaro B should be discontinued in 2019 and that the next generation would be a PSA development. In January 2019, Opel presented the official successor to the Vivaro station wagon / minibus, the Opel Zafira Life , which is based on the Peugeot Traveler . The other variants, i.e. the commercial vehicle variant, will continue to run under the name Vivaro, but based on the Peugeot Expert .
Production of the Vivaro B ended in March 2019 after almost five years. The sister models : Trafic, NV300 and Talento will continue to be built or offered.
Motors and designs
For the Vivaro B, only a 1.6 liter diesel engine was available, which was offered in different power levels.

All engines were offered with a manual six-speed gearbox. The tank capacity is 80 l.
As with the predecessor, there were different designs that were named depending on the wheelbase and roof height.

With the Vivaro C, Opel and PSA (Opel no longer belongs to GM in 2017) decided to no longer work with Renault-Nissan. Instead, the new Vivaro, like the Peugeot Expert , the Citroën Jumpy and the Toyota Proace, is based on the EMP2 platform .
It is available as a panel van (max. 3 seats), double cab (max. 6 seats) and station wagon (max. 9 seats). Outside Germany, however, it is also available as a platform chassis (max. 3rd seats) .
The Vivaro C is a purely commercial vehicle; as the successor to the Vivaro "Life" and "Tour" models, it is offered on the same basis as the Zafira Life , which also replaces the Zafira C.
Unlike the Peugeot Expert, the Citroën Jumpy or the Toyota Proace, the Vivaro C is not built in the PSA plant in Valenciennes (France), but continues to be built in the company's own Opel / Vauxhall main plant in Luton (England). It is manufactured for the Russian market at the PSA plant in Kaluga and, alongside the Zafira Life and Grandland X, will be the first vehicle that Opel wants to sell again in Russia after 2015.
The panel van and double cabin versions are offered as Vivaro Cargo .
Vivaro-e
On November 5, 2019, Opel presented the Vivaro-e. In contrast to the normal Vivaro, the Vivaro-e has an electric drive in two power levels and range variants.
The version with an electric motor , which is due to come onto the market in 2020, is to be manufactured with the sister models Jumpy and Expert in the PSA plant in Hordain .
After the Ampera-e and Corsa-e, the Vivaro-e is the third Opel vehicle in which the "-e" stands for the version with a purely electric drive.
Technical specifications
The Vivaro is offered with a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter diesel engine . These produce between 75 kW (102 PS) and 130 kW (177 PS). A version with a purely electric drive will also be available from 2020. For the first time, electric sliding doors and all-wheel drive from Dangel are available as options .
