    • The federal motorway 253 (abbreviation: BAB 253 ) - short form: Autobahn 253 (abbreviation: A 253 ) - or Harburg bypass was a short motorway in the south of Hamburg . It was only indirectly linked to other motorways - via the Wilhelmsburger Reichsstraße ( B 4 , B 75 ), which seamlessly connected to the A 253 in the north and also had four lanes, but was not developed in accordance with the usual motorway standard. This road then merged seamlessly into the A 252 . With the opening of the new Wilhelmsburger Reichsstraße east of the old route on October 6, 2019, the motorway was downgraded to the B 75.

    particularities

    The signs on the autobahn were as usual on federal autobahns, but the A 253 was never mentioned; to the south it was signposted as the B 75, to the north as the B 4 and B 75. It was the same on the A 252.

    In the section between Winsener Strasse and Hörstener Strasse is the only two-story road construction in Hamburg: Hannoversche Strasse runs below the elevated former A 253 .
