The Bank Austria Tennis Trophy 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place in Vienna from October 4 to 12, 2008 . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on hard court. In the same week the Kremlin Cup was held in Moscow and the Stockholm Open in Stockholm , which, unlike the tournament in Vienna, which belongs to the International Series Gold category, only belonged to the International Series category .

The Serb Novak Đoković did not appear in the individual to defend his title, the top seeded Swiss Stan Wawrinka was eliminated in the first round. The title surprisingly went to the German Philipp Petzschner , who only entered the main competition of the tournament after qualifying and thus won his only individual title to date. He prevailed in the final in two sets 6: 4, 6: 4 against Gaël Monfils . In doubles, the Polish defending champions ( Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski ) were eliminated in the first round. The title went to Max Mirny and Andy Ram , who thus won their first joint title. In the final they defeated the German- Austrian duo consisting of Philipp Petzschner and Alexander Peya 6: 1, 7: 5.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 674,000 euros; the total financial liabilities were 674,000 euros.
