FAW is a car brand from the People's Republic of China .

Brand history

The China FAW Group from Changchun uses this brand for automobiles . The group was previously called First Automotive Works, FAW for short. Many companies in this group use the brand name FAW, often with an addition that, depending on the source, is interpreted as another brand, as a sub-brand , as a series or as a model name.

FAW Audi

The FAW-Volkswagen joint venture has been manufacturing Audi vehicles since 1996 . Initially they were marketed as Audi. One source states that the vehicles have been marketed as FAW Audi since May 2006. The fact that the website carsalesbase.com lists the vehicles under Audi speaks against this. The models A4 , A6 and the extended versions A4L and A6L are mentioned .

FAW Benteng

Benteng is the Chinese name and Besturn or, more recently, Bestune is the English one. One source mentions this name. Carsalesbase.com, however, has its own entry for Bestune.

FAW Daihatsu

According to a source, FAW Jilin Automobile has been making vehicles with this designation since 2007. The model is called Xenia. carsalesbase.com carries this model as FAW Xenia.

FAW Hongqi

The own brand Hongqi has been around since 1958. The manufacturer was initially First Automotive Works and since 1997 FAW Car . The abbreviation FAW is sometimes used in front of this. carsalesbase.com lists the vehicles as Hongqi.

FAW Hongta

FAW Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing made cars of that name. The models Shizhe from 2003 and Zhiyoufeng II (also called Free Wind II) from 2006 are mentioned.

FAW Jiabao

FAW Jilin Automobile manufactured these vehicles from 1999. The minibuses CA6350, CA6351, CA1016, CA6360, AV6-CA6371 and V70-CA6390 as well as the pick-up CA1010 are mentioned.

FAW Jiaxing

FAW Huali (Tianjin) Motor was established in 2002 when FAW Tianjin took over Huali Motor from Tianjin . From December 2003 the minivan Xinfu Shizhe was manufactured. This model was also available as FAW Hongta. Production ended in 2007.

FAW Jiefang

Jiefang has been a First Automotive Works brand name for commercial vehicles since 1956 . After FAW took over Harbin Light Vehicle Plant in 1993 , pick-ups and station wagons derived from them were offered as FAW Jiefang. The pick-up CA1021 U2 is named after a license from the Toyota Hilux and the station wagons CA6450 and CA1021 U2V. Between 1998 and 2004 there were other station wagons: CA5020 OXGHW with a body according to the Toyota Land Cruiser license and CA5026 XGHL with a body from Jiangling Motors . In 2000 the pick-up CA 1021 LU2 appeared with the body of the Isuzu TFS . In 2005 the CA6472 Y and CA 6480 P6E followed as a station wagon and the CA1021 P6LU2E as a pick-up with five seats.

FAW Junpai

It is not clear whether Junpai (English jumper) denotes a sub-brand or a model range. The A50 , A70 , CX65 , D60 and D80 are known .

FAW Mazda

FAW Car began in January 2003 with the production of the Mazda 6 with notchback . The CA7200 had an engine with 1,999 cc displacement and 135 hp . There was also the CA7230, whose engine made 162 hp from a displacement of 2261 cm³. A revision took place in September 2005. The engine output increased to 147 hp in the CA7201 and 163 hp in the CA7231. In 2006 the CA7202 with hatchback and the small engine, the CA7232 with hatchback and the large engine and the CA7233 as a station wagon with the large engine added to the range. The second generation of the Mazda 6 was announced for December 2008 and the Mazda 8 for 2009 . In June 2020, it was announced that China First Automobile was the new manufacturer. Carsalesbase.com independently carries these vehicles under the Mazda brand . With FAW Haima Automobile Company way, there is another joint venture between FAW involving Mazda.

FAW Oley

This designation was announced in 2011, introduced in 2012 and abandoned in 2016. There was only one model, but optionally with a notchback or hatchback. One source sees Oley as a brand. carsalesbase.com lists it under FAW Oley , although it remains unclear whether Oley was a sub-brand or just a model name.

FAW Sichuan Toyota

Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Company is a Chinese company that manufactures Toyota vehicles . A source says the brand name has been FAW Sichuan Toyota since May 2006. carsalesbase sees it differently.

FAW Tianjin

First Automotive Works took over Tianjin Automobile Xiali in 2002 and chose Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile as the new company name. The vehicles were then marketed as FAW Tianjin. The Xiali series in several versions, Vizi and Vela, are named for the 2005 model year. The Vizi was a license from the Toyota Vitz and was created between 2002 and 2008. The Weizhi followed in June 2006. Other models were the Xiali N5 and Xiali N7 . Carsalesbase.com only names the Xiali series with the addition of Tianjin.

FAW Tianjin Toyota or FAW Toyota

Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Company manufactures vehicles in partnership with Toyota. One source cites the name FAW Tianjin Toyota since May 2006 and another with the same date FAW Toyota. carsalesbase.com only gives the name Toyota. GAC Toyota Motor models are also listed there.

FAW-VW

FAW-Volkswagen was founded in 1991 and has been manufacturing vehicles since December 5, 1991. Some sources say that FAW-VW is the brand name. It should be noted that another Chinese company, SAIC Volkswagen, also manufactures Volkswagen . carsalesbase.com carries the vehicles of both manufacturers under the Volkswagen brand.
