La Ferte-Saint-Aubin is a French municipality with 7454 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton La Ferté-Saint-Aubin .
La Ferté-Saint-Aubin consists of the two places La Ferté and Saint-Aubin, both together form a unité urbaine because they have grown together. At the same time, La Ferté-Aubin is the largest municipality in terms of area in the Loiret department. In the past, the municipality repeatedly bore the name of the castle's owner, i.e. La Ferté-Nabert, La Ferté-St-Nectaire, La Ferté-Senneterre or La Ferté-Lowendal. During the revolution it was called La Ferté-Cosson after the river Cosson on which it is located.
