Juárez is a municipality in the north of the Mexican state Chiapas . The municipality has almost 21,000 inhabitants and an area of ​​745.2 km². The administrative center and largest town in the municipality is Juárez of the same name .

The municipality of Juárez is located in the north of the Mexican state Chiapas at an altitude of less than 300  m . 99.6% of it belongs to the physiographic province of the southern coastal plain of the Gulf of Mexico and 0.4% to the Sierra Madre de Chiapas ; it is entirely located in the Grijalva - Usumacinta hydrological region . The geology of the municipality is 67% sandstone with 22% alluvion ; The predominant soil types are Luvisol (60%), Acrisol (22%) and Gleysol (18%). About 72% of the community area is taken up by pastureland, 13% are used for agriculture, 12% are forested.

The Municipio Juárez borders the Municipios Reforma and Pichucalco and the State of Tabasco .

In the 2010 census, 21,084 people were counted in 5,221 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 1,050 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 979 speakers of the Zoque . A good 15 percent of the population was illiterate. 7,630 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which almost 80% were men and 3.3% were unemployed. A good 23% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
