Chiapa de Corzo is a municipality in the center of the Mexican state Chiapas . The municipality has about 87,000 inhabitants and an area of 833.4 km². The administrative seat and largest city of the municipality is the Pueblo Mágico Chiapa de Corzo of the same name .
The part of the name Corzo in the community name honors the former governor Chiapas' Ángel Albino Corzo . The Tuxtla Gutierrez airport and part of the National Park Sumidero Canyon lie in the field of Municipalities, in turn, part of the Zona Metropolitana de Tuxtla Gutierrez is.

The municipality of Chiapa de Corzo is centrally located in the Mexican state of Chiapas at heights between 200 m and 1800 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas and is entirely in the hydrological region of Grijalva - Usumacinta . The 2010 census counted 87,603 people in 21,305 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 3,391 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , 2,109 speakers of the Tzotzil and 713 speakers of the Zoque . A good 14 percent of the population was illiterate. 33,810 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which 74% were men and 2.8% were unemployed. Almost 23% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
