Reforma is a municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas . The municipality has about 40,000 inhabitants and an area of ​​436.3 km². The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the Reforma of the same name .

geography

The municipality Reforma is located in the extreme north of the Mexican state Chiapas at an altitude of less than 100  m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the southern coastal plain of the Gulf of Mexico and lies entirely in the hydrological region of Grijalva - Usumacinta . The geology of the municipality is determined by 75% sandstone with 17% alluvion ; the predominant soil types are acrisol (55%) and gleysol (44%). About 82% of the community area is taken up by pastureland, 10% is used for agriculture.

The Municipio Reforma borders the Municipio Juárez and the State of Tabasco .

population

In the 2010 census, 40,711 people in 10,243 residential units were counted in the municipality. Of these, 175 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . A good nine percent of the population was illiterate. 14,411 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which a good 75% were men and 2.3% were unemployed. Over 15% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
