WDR 200
WDR 200 is a campaign by the radio broadcaster WDR 2 , where listeners can vote which music they find best. The action has taken place four times since 2002.
concept
After several weeks of voting, the 200 most popular songs are played in a hit parade. The broadcast concept and the voting have a considerable number of listeners. In the vote in 2007, over one million votes were evaluated, around 70,000 of them from all over the world.
In 2002, 2005 and 2007 the 200 titles were broadcast on the day of German Unity (October 3) in a full- day broadcast; In 2009, WDR 200 was broadcast on November 7th and 8th.
Previous broadcasts
In 2002 the audience chose the best music title under the general title WDR 200 . Three years later the show was entitled WDR 200 - The Best Singers . In 2007 the motto WDR 200. The best album of all time was chosen. In addition to the broadcasts on the radio, CDs with a selection of the most popular titles have also been released since 2005 . In 2009 the best 200 bands were determined. The mandatory double CD was released on November 13, 2009.

The music department of WDR 2 had put together around 600 albums, which in their opinion are among the best of all time. From this preselection, listeners were able to vote for their favorite album and their favorite song via the Internet until October 1, 2007, midnight. In addition to these 600 albums, WDR 2 listeners could choose their favorite album from a list of all the albums published in Germany. If a particularly large number of listeners wanted a certain album, it was added to the "official" list.
