coat of arms

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on February 26, 1962 by decision of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon : "Under the shield head with the Bavarian diamonds in gold, one above the other, two black three-way men."

The two black three-legged arms, placed one on top of the other, represent the family coat of arms of the Lords of Frundsberg, who acquired the rule of Mindelheim in 1467. After it died out in 1586, the rule of Mindelheim finally passed to Duke Maximilian of Bavaria in 1617. After the Wittelsbach family had inherited Schwabegg in 1268/69, the Bavarian dukes and electors owned about 4/5 of the district in the 17th century. The Bavarian diamonds in the district coat of arms refer to this historical connection.

The design of the coat of arms comes from Klemens Stadler and the design was done by Rudolf Mussgnug from Nördlingen.
