The three- cushion world cup 1992/5 was the 5th world cup tournament in the seventh year of the three- cushion world cup. It took place from December 2nd to 6th, 1992 in this discipline of carom billiards in Tokyo . It was the fifth three-cushion World Cup tournament in Japan.
The Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl ventured into new dimensions in this World Cup tournament. He is the first billiards athlete who could reach the sound barrier of two averages in an international tournament. The new world record in the general average (GD) is now 2.204 . Twice in this tournament he equalized the world record for the best individual average (BED) of 2.812 , set by the Japanese Nobuaki Kobayashi at the 1988 World Cup in Antwerp. As early as 1991 in Ghent, Blomdahl equalized this record. The Portuguese Jorge Theriaga caused a surprise in the round of 16. He eliminated Sang Chun Lee and thwarted the American's ambitions for overall World Cup victory. With his participation in the finals, only Raymond Ceulemans has realistic hopes for this title. He is currently second behind Blomdahl, 33 points behind. But only the final tournament will take place next week in Palma de Mallorca.
The exact price money could not be determined from the documents. However, as in all BWA World Cup tournaments, it was at least 100,000 DM.

Final round
The tournament tree for the final round is listed below.
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
