Glatigny is a French commune with 256 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Glatigny is located about twelve kilometers east of Metz at an altitude between 215 and 298 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.23 km². The A4 autoroute (Paris – Strasbourg) runs through the south of the municipality .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1192 as Glatignei and in 1844 still had 282 inhabitants.

In 1670, the Jewish cattle dealer Raphaël Lévy was burned for a ritual murder allegedly committed against a Christian child from Glatigny . The community imposed a ban on all Jews, they were no longer allowed to enter the place. This ban was lifted in 2014.

1915–1918 and 1940–1944 it bore the German name Glatingen .
