The place is about 3 km northeast of Schwarzenbek.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1230.

The current name of the place Grabau can be traced back to the earlier designation of the place as Grabowe (1230) or Grabow (1460). The name comes from the old Slavic grave for hornbeam or hornbeam and ending -ov that a possessive is so that the name as much as settlement in the hornbeam or White Paper village means.

Since 1948 the community has belonged to the Schwarzenbek office, which in 1962 merged with the Basthorst office to form today's Schwarzenbek-Land office .
