The Liga 1 2006/07 was the 69th season in the history of the highest Romanian football league . It was renamed from Divizia A to League 1 before the start of the season. The season started on July 28, 2006 and ended on May 23, 2007 . Games were closed from mid-December to mid-February ( winter break ). Champion Dinamo Bucharest .

The league 1 played with 18 teams. The four last-placed teams were relegated to League II , four teams were promoted (the two first-placed teams from each of the two seasons). There were three points for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a defeat. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, it was not the goal difference that decided , but the direct comparison.
